Bat Tricks GirlSoftball, as we all know, is a game of statistics. Here’s an impressive number for you. The below Vine, posted one day ago, has nearly 8 million loops. Why? Because it features an incredible softball bat trick. The girl’s name is Marisa Arriaga, and she hails from Cedar Hill, Texas. She posted the original video back in June, but it’s gone viral the past 24 hours. In the clip, she lifts a bat off of the ground with her foot, bounces it behind her back, kicks the ball off of the tee, juggles it, and then crushes it into the woods. It’s awesome.Bat tricks? pic.twitter.com/M2JqHXR08l— marisa (@marisa_arriaga) June 24, 2015Yeah, I can’t do that. Impressive, to say the least.
CHAPEL HILL, NC – JANUARY 05: Players of the North Carolina Tar Heels wear a patch on their jersey to remember ESPN anchor, Stuart Scott, who recently passed away from cancer and was an alumni of the University of North Carolina before their game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Dean Smith Center on January 5, 2015 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This season, Jay has been making his pick for the games the crew travels to by unveiling a jersey from under his suit at the end of the broadcast. Today, GameDay went to South Bend for Notre Dame vs. No. 2/1 North Carolina. Williams, a former Duke point guard, wouldn’t go so far as to pick the Irish to make the upset, but he also refuses to wear UNC gear, so he called a bit of an audible for his jersey choice.North Carolina is embracing the pick anyway.Apparently, @RealJayWilliams got the #OneCarolina memo.#GoHeelsGoPanthers #KeepPounding pic.twitter.com/ZEGjZmo52x— UNC Tar Heels (@GoHeels) February 6, 2016That seems like a fair compromise.
OTTAWA – Higher gasoline prices helped bump retail sales higher in September, but economists said it appears consumer spending has cooled after a hot start to the year.Statistics Canada said Thursday retail sales edged up 0.1 per cent to $49.1 billion in September, boosted by sales at gasoline stations as prices climbed due to disruptions caused by hurricane Harvey. However, excluding sales in this subsector, retail sales fell 0.2 per cent.“Retail sales are losing steam, but given the sky-high rates of growth that they were tracking, a cooling was inevitable,” CIBC economist Nick Exarhos wrote in a report.Exarhos noted the result fell short of the consensus expectations for gains of closer to one per cent.Overall, sales were up in five of 11 subsectors, representing 52 per cent of retail trade. After removing the effects of price changes, retail sales in volume terms fell 0.6 per cent.Sales at gasoline stations were up 2.6 per cent as prices rose, largely due to higher prices. In volume terms, sales at gasoline stations declined 2.5 per cent.Economists have been predicting the economy would slow in the second half of the year after a strong start to 2017 which saw the Bank of Canada raise its key interest rate twice. However, while the central bank has said that future rate hikes are likely it has struck a more cautious tone about when that may happen, noting that it will be keeping a keen eye on the incoming economic data.TD Bank economist Dina Ignjatovic said the retail sales data was in line with the slowing in economic activity expected by the Bank of Canada.“Consumer spending has been a key driver of economic growth this year and while a more sustainable rate of growth is likely, it should remain a key support going forward,” Ignjatovic wrote.“Indeed, some improvement in retail sales could be in the cards, in line with the uptick in housing market activity and a strong labour market.”
BILLINGS, Mont. — The Latest on the Trump administration’s miscalculation of safety benefits of electronic brakes for oil trains (all times local):12:15 p.m.Supporters of more advanced brakes on trains hauling explosive fuels are pushing back against a Trump administration decision to scrap their mandatory use following the revelation that derailment risks were miscalculated.A senior adviser to Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, Robert Duff, said Thursday that federal officials should reconsider the safety advantages of electronic brakes after The Associated Press found some benefits were ignored.Railroads were required to begin installing the brakes under a 2015 rule prompted by a string of fiery derailments involving oil and ethanol shipments. The AP found that when Trump administration killed the rule in September, it omitted up to $117 million in potential reduced damages from using the brakes.Department of Transportation officials acknowledged the error but said it was unintentional and does not affect the repeal.__12 a.m.The Trump administration miscalculated potential damages from train derailments when it cancelled an Obama-era rule requiring the installation of more advanced brakes by railroads hauling explosive fuels.A government analysis used to justify the cancellation omitted up to $117 million in potential reduced damages from using electronic brakes. The error could stoke criticism from supporters of the rule.Department of Transportation officials acknowledged the error after it was discovered by The Associated Press during a review of federal documents. Still, they said it was unintentional and would not have made a difference. The brake rule was adopted under President Barack Obama following a string of fiery derailments of trains hauling oil and ethanol. The railroad and oil industries have pushed to cancel the rule citing its high costs. The Associated Press
New Delhi: China-based smartphone maker Realme, that clocked seven per cent market share in India in the first quarter of 2019, is aiming to sell at least 15 million handsets in the country by the end of year, the company’s India CEO said on Monday. The online-focused device maker that came into existence in 2018, was also among the top five smartphone brands in the fourth quarter of 2018 with eight per cent market share. “We are targeting to sell at least 15 million handsets this year and I believe in sales numbers,” Madhav Sheth, Chief Executive Officer, Realme India, told IANS. Also Read – Swiggy now in 500 Indian cities, targets 100 more this year “The sales and shipments won’t have such a huge gap,” Sheth replied when asked if the company was aiming only at the shipment numbers. Realme, which started as an online-only brand, now gets the majority of its sales from offline channels, according to Counterpoint Research. The handset maker will set up six exclusive stores in metros by the end of the year. The first such store will be opened in July. However, the company said it will also focus on the tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Also Read – New HP Pavilion x360 notebook with in-built Alexa in India “We’ll explore going into places like Nashik, Nagpur and Pune. We’ll also look to set up pop-up stores in the northeast,” noted Sheth. The company is targeting 50 pop-up and six exclusive stores this year. The retail outlets would house Realme’s portfolio of smartphones, Realme “Buds” and backpacks. “We already have our own earbuds and before Diwali, we will also have our own range of accessories. We will come up with our own power bank, Bluetooth headset, apart from few more smartphones,” the executive said. Currently, the brand has a retail presence in 50 cities, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Surat, Ludhiana and Chandigarh, and is expanding footprint to meet the growing demands of customers. “We’ve already set up multi-brand retail outlets in 39-40 cities and we’ll reach 20,000 multi-brand retail outlets across 150 cities before 2019 ends,” said the company executive. The firm unveiled its first exclusive kiosk at the pop-up sale in New Delhi on Saturday. The kiosk lets customers experience and purchase from the Realme portfolio. The Chinese handset maker currently has one of its research and development (R&D) bases in Hyderabad and another in China, while its manufacturing factory is located in Greater Noida, which has a production capacity of almost 60-80 million handsets a year. The firm introduced the Realme 1 model in May 2018, marking its foray into the entry-level smartphone segment. According to CyberMedia Research (CMR)’s mobile handset report, the firm’s smartphone shipments grew by over 600 per cent in the September-October period in comparison to the July-August period in 2018, thus, making it the top emerging brand in India. Born as OPPO’s sub-brand, Realme is now an independent brand targeting the global youth.
Ohio State flirted with defeating a ranked opponent against Nebraska, but came up empty-handed after a late-game meltdown. Saturday, the Buckeyes will look to upset No. 16-ranked Illinois. Offense I was hesitant to jump on the Braxton Miller bandwagon, but consider my bags packed. Under Miller, the Buckeyes held a 27-6 lead in the third quarter. Offensive coordinator Jim Bollman was dialing up misdirections, play-action passes and seemed to get rid of the “run on first and second down, pass on third, punt and repeat” philosophy. When Miller’s injury forced Joe Bauserman back into the game, the offense ceased to exist. OSU needs a healthy Miller behind center to keep the defense honest. When defenses are preoccupied with Miller’s legs, passing plays and running lanes open. Daniel “Boom” Herron is back this week and Bollman would be wise to feed him the ball. The Buckeyes are 18-1 in games in which Herron has at least 55 yards rushing and 20-3 in games in which he scores a touchdown. Fickell said that Herron will likely be seen on special teams, but he needs to factor in the offense too. Defense The Buckeyes defense picked up where it left off against Michigan State – but only for two quarters. They held the No. 1-ranked rushing offense to just 37 yards and six points in the first half. But in the second half, when the team needed the defense the most, they fell apart allowing 195 rushing yards and 28 points. The defense needs to force turnovers as they did in crucial situations against Michigan State. The Buckeyes forced just one Nebraska turnover, an interception, and that came in the first half. Being on the road again, the Buckeyes will have to fight momentum and the crowd. The easiest way to stop momentum is with a turnover from the defense. Senior defensive end Nate Williams is out for the year, so someone on the defense must step up as a permanent pass-rushing threat. In the disastrous second half against Nebraska, the Buckeyes again went without a quarterback sack. Special teams Fittingly, junior punter Ben Buchanan continues to be the Buckeyes’ best player. He downed a punt inside Nebraska’s 10-yard line as well as pinning the Cornhuskers inside their own 20-yard line twice, including a 55-yard boot. They will need him to help control the field position battle. Drew Basil has been reliable this season, hitting 7-of-9 field goal attempts and leading the Buckeyes in scoring. If OSU has a chance to put three points on the board, they would be wise to take them. If special teams are where Herron makes his appearances Saturday, he needs to make the most of them and provide the team with a spark. As senior offensive tackle Mike Adams showed against Nebraska, this team feeds off of a confident senior player. Coaching The coaches must come up with an offensive gameplan that is operational with or without Miller. As effective as Miller was against Nebraska, the offense cannot depend solely on him. A freshman scrambler is going to get beat around, and if he has to come off the field, the offense must continue to attack. And, if Miller goes down again, the coaches should take a good hard look at third-string sophomore quarterback Kenny Guiton. The Bauserman experiment has been tried, and it has failed – miserably. The offense couldn’t be any less effective under Bauserman.
US men’s soccer coach Jurgen Klinsmann waves to the fans after a game against Mexico Sept. 10 at Crew Stadium. The US won, 2-0.Credit: Shelby Lum / Photo editorThe United States Men’s National Team’s all-time leading scorer won’t be playing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, but the story isn’t about Landon Donovan. The story is about USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann after he decided to leave the 32-year-old forward off his 23-man roster for Rio de Janeiro.By leaving him at home, Klinsmann has placed himself firmly on the hot seat – especially in the eyes of American fans.Donovan is not the player he used to be, nobody can argue with that, but he is still more than just a shell of his former self. While he may not have the same pace and goal scoring ability as he had in the past, Donovan has played in three World Cups and could bring much needed leadership and poise to a young squad. The facts are simple; Donovan wasn’t one of the best 23 in Klinsmann’s eyes, and the coach better hope he’s right. The U.S. is set to take on a tough group that many are dubbing the “group of death.” Germany is a talented and deep team, Portugal boasts Cristiano Ronaldo among other stars and Ghana has always had the USMNT’s number. Before releasing his roster, nobody would have blamed Klinsmann if his team didn’t make it out of the group stage. Now, after making the most polarizing decision possible – save cutting captain Clint Dempsey or Everton goalie Tim Howard – the former Germany boss has increased the pressure on himself to astronomic levels.Even though Donovan was not going to be a starter for every game, there is nobody who would have been upset to see him on the team. With Donovan at home, fans have a reason to hate Klinsmann for the first time since he took over the squad in 2011.Overall Klinsmann has been wildly successful as the U.S. coach. He led the team to a 12-game winning streak – an all-time best for the USMNT. The U.S. qualified for the World Cup in spectacular fashion and boasts possibly its most talented roster of all time.Yet nobody will be talking about young stars such as Bayern Munich’s Julian Green or AZ Alkmaar striker Aron Jóhannsson. The chatter won’t even be about Dempsey, Howard or Sunderland’s Jozy Altidore. By excluding Donovan, Klinsmann took all the spotlight away from the players who will be in Brazil and put it firmly on the one who won’t.This is a make-or-break tournament for the U.S. If the team can make it out of the group stage, the talent is validated. If they don’t – especially without Donovan – it will be a failure, no matter how unfair that may be considering the draw.Regardless of Klinsmann’s contract extension that is set to keep him with the team until 2018, if this 23-man squad doesn’t deliver, he will be in a pile of trouble with the fans and, quite possibly, his bosses.Donovan’s exclusion is now an excuse to band together against the coach, while his inclusion would have had absolutely no negative implications.Klinsmann claims the players he chose are just ahead of Donovan’s current ability, but I can’t imagine 31-year-old forward Chris Wondolowski – he of just 19 international appearances – will do any better than Donovan could.I certainly hope the coach ends up looking like a genius by making it out of the group, and he should be hoping the same.By ditching Donovan, Klinsmann has placed the target firmly on his own back.
Former OSU women’s hockey coach Nate Handrahan.Credit: Lantern TVAfter just four seasons, Ohio State women’s hockey coach Nate Handrahan and one of his assistants has resigned. An OSU spokesman confirmed the resignation in an email to The Lantern Wednesday afternoon, as well as the resignation of Keith Maurice, who joined the program in May 2013.The spokesman did not provide a reason for the resignations. The OSU women’s hockey team went 67-64-15 in four seasons under Handrahan, including a 17-16-3 mark this season. In the 2012-2013 season, the Buckeyes posted a 19-win season, the second most in team history.Handrahan was just the second head coach in the 15-year history of the program.
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is the best candidate to lift this year’s Ballon d’Or award, according to Chelsea winger Eden Hazard.Modric is enjoying a clean sweep of personal accolades having already won FIFA’s The Best award for 2018 and Best player in the Champions League. And Chelsea forward Hazard believes his World Cup performance and the contribution in Madrid’s Champions League campaign gives him the edge to win the accolade.“I do not think it will be me, I believe Luka Modric deserves it,” Hazard told reporters.Real Madrid suffer a Luka Modric injury blow Andrew Smyth – September 12, 2019 Real Madrid have announced that Luka Modric has suffered an adductor injury, which could rule him out of some key fixtures.“There are three or four players who have had elite years, you could say that Raphael Varane deserves it because he has won the two most important trophies, nobody else did.“I would not be lying by saying that I have a case for winning the award too but I seriously believe that Modric will win it.“It would be a deserving reward for his wonderful season in the Champions League and in the World Cup, where he was magnificent.”
Posted: August 15, 2019 SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – San Diego Gas & Electric announced plans Thursday to build electric charging infrastructure for 3,000 vehicles such as buses, delivery trucks and forklifts.SDG&E received approval from the California Public Utilities Commission to build at least 3,000 plug-in chargers for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from vehicle tailpipes. Roughly 30 percent of those will be installed in areas facing higher pollution levels or economic and health challenges.According to SDG&E, its service areas in San Diego and southern Orange County have more than 103,000 Class 2 through 8 commercial vehicles. Those heavy-duty vehicles, which weigh between 6,000 and 33,000 pounds, emit more carbon than all of the California’s power plants combined.“SDG&E’s MD/HD initiative would provide EV charging stations to support large equipment and vehicles that pollute our air, therefore reducing harmful emissions,” said Robert Kard, the air pollution control officer at the county’s Air Pollution Control District.SDG&E also recently asked the CPUC for permission to add a new electricity pricing option that would make electricity pricing for vehicles more competitive with gas prices for businesses that switch to using electric vehicles. To date, SDG&E has already installed roughly 3,000 electric chargers for personal vehicles at apartments, condominiums and workplaces in San Diego and Orange counties.“Imagine a future where zero-emission trucks carry produce and merchandise to your local stores and zero-emission school buses pick up and drop off your children,” said Estela de Llanos, SDG&E’s vice president of clean transportation, sustainability. “With this new initiative, our region is headed to a new phase of the clean transportation movement.” Categories: Local San Diego News FacebookTwitter SDG&E to Build 3,000 Electric Chargers for Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles KUSI Newsroom KUSI Newsroom, August 15, 2019

Dan Cohen AUTHOR The 17-member Pennsylvania Military Community Enhancement Commission held its first meeting last week with the primary aim of protecting and promoting the state’s installations ahead of a future BRAC.“I am looking forward to working with my legislative colleagues as well as with economic development professionals and other volunteers on the commission to focus our efforts and activities that will protect and enhance the military value of our defense installations in serving our warfighters,” said state Sen. John Blake (D), a member of the commission who represents a district that includes Tobyhanna Army Depot.“We are aware that BRAC discussions will occur in Washington, D.C., in the years ahead. We need to work now to ensure Pennsylvania installations and Pennsylvania workers are not endangered by future BRAC decisions,” Blake said, reported the Pocono Record. The state legislature formally established the commission last year under the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The law establishing the commission assigned it multiple duties:establish long-term relationships with the state’s military installations and organizations;advocate at the local, state and federal levels for the enhancement of its installations;provide advice on the expansion of economic development opportunities and defense-related industry organizations;monitor federal activities affecting the state’s military facilities;engage stakeholders at the local, state and federal levels on the preservation of installations; andidentify sources of funding for economic development projects related to military installations. In addition to Tobyhanna Army Depot, the commonwealth’s installations include the Naval Support Activity and the Navy Yard in Philadelphia; the Pennsylvania Army and Air National Guard in Fort Indiantown Gap; the Defense Distribution Center in New Cumberland; Naval Support Activity in Mechanicsburg; Carlisle Barracks and the Army War College; Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg; and the 911th Airlift Wing and 316th Sustainment Command in Moon.

Apple appears to be working on it. The US Patent and Trademark Office published two patent applications Thursday that suggest Apple is working on devices that could potentially smell the environment. One application details the “systems and methods for environmental sensing.” While this is mainly meant to detect toxic gases related to environmental hazards, the patent application notes that it also applies to “spoiled food material detection, body odor detection and health applications.”The application specifically suggests it could “measure compounds in human sweat and alert the user about his sugar levels.” The other application for a “compact particulate material sensor” is geared toward detecting pollution. The patent applications were reported earlier Thursday by Apple Insider.Apple previously drew up plans for a potential glucose monitoring device that were published by the patent office last August. However, Apple’s efforts to patent a technology doesn’t guarantee it’ll ever land in an actual product. The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. She’s bi. And yes, she cares very little about what men think of her. What a joy to play! https://t.co/d0LZKTHCfL— Tessa Thompson (@TessaThompson_x) October 21, 2017 Marvel’s Phase 4 plan explained The complication for Thor 4 is separating Thor from the Guardians: He seemed set to travel with them, and an alternate timeline Gamora, at the end of Avengers: Endgame. He’d then presumably be reunited with them at the end of Thor 4 for Guardians 3.Meanwhile, there’s nothing official about Hemsworth’s involvement in Guardians 3 yet, and the Aussie is fairly busy too, set to play Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic, as well as starring in Thor 4 and being involved in Marvel’s What If… animated TV series. But who knows, Marvel might just send people into a frenzy all over again by making a big Guardians announcement.Thankfully, while we wait for Thor 4, there’s plenty more Marvel goodness to keep us going. Or just go back and watch the 23 previous films!Note: This article was originally published July 23 and will be updated as news rolls in. Plot and release dateWe know the release date is Nov. 5, 2021. But maybe a more crucial point is that Thor: Love and Thunder, if nothing is shifted, will be the last film in Phase Four. It will directly follow the Hawkeye Disney Plus series starring Jeremy Renner, but the next movie it will follow is the Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.Spider-Man: Far From Home, the last film in Phase Three, explored a world post-Blip (the five years that passed since people disappeared and returned from the Snap). So Thor 4 may have to deal with the aftermath of events in Doctor Strange 2. Those events could be immensely complicated, given the full on embrace of the multiverse. Or, given that the Disney Plus shows look to tie in to the movies (and therefore entice people to sign up to Disney’s streaming platform) events in Hawkeye may also affect the plot of Thor 4.Thor, Star-Lord and Gamora. Marvel But this is all speculation of course. Other than that, Thompson commented at Comic-Con on what Valkyrie might be up to other than finding her Queen: “Asgard is not a place but a people. I think just reinvesting in her people. A cool thing is to create refuge for any person that might need it. That to me is the idea of a perfect Asgard.”As for Thor’s adventuring with the Guardians of the Galaxy, director James Gunn cleared up the question of whether Thor 4 happens before or after that.”Before,” Gunn replied to a fan in the comments on his Instagram post celebrating Avengers: Endgame finally overtaking Avatar as the biggest movie of all time. 2 Mentioned Above Misfit Phase (gray) A scene filmed for Thor: Ragnarok showed a woman walking out of Valkyrie’s bedroom, but it was cut “because it distracted from the scene’s vital exposition,” Thompson told Collider in 2017.After the Comic-Con panel, Kevin Feige confirmed to io9, “The answer is yes,” when asked if Valkyrie would have an LGBTQ storyline. “How that impacts the story remains to be seen with that level of representation you’ll see across our films, not in just Thor 4.”People (on Twitter) have some ideas about who should be Valkyrie’s queen. (Thor handed the legendary warrior the reins to Asgard before he went off galavanting with the Guardians of the Galaxy.) Candidates include: Female Thor and Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel. After playing Thor’s girlfriend Jane Foster in 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, Portman was absent from Thor: Ragnarok, reportedly because Marvel gave the screenwriters permission to write a story that didn’t include Earth-based characters. How did they paper over her disappearance? In 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, the break up happens off screen. Thor encounters a group of fangirls while he and Loki search for Odin in New York. The girls mentions they heard Jane dumped Thor, and he yells that he was the one who dumped her. That’s it.A poster for Thor: The Dark World. Marvel So basically, Thor and Jane broke up.The news may have come as a surprise since most traditional superheroes fall in love and remain with their partners for good (unless one of them dies). For her part, Portman seemed well and truly done with the character.”As far as I know, I’m done,” she told The Wall Street Journal in 2016. “I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an Avengers 7 or whatever, I have no idea. But as far as I know, I’m done.”Three years later, Portman stepped out on stage at Comic-Con, where Waititi handed her Thor’s hammer. In introducing her, he said, “When we were shooting Ragnarok, I was reading one storyline by Jason Aaron called The Mighty Thor, and for those of you who know that storyline, it’s incredible, it’s full of emotion and love and thunder. And it introduces for the first time, female Thor.”For us, there’s only one person who could play that role.”Lady Thor from the Marvel Comics storyline The Goddess of Thunder. Marvel Comics How Jane Foster becomes female ThorComic book writer Jason Aaron relaunched the Thor comic book series with Thor: God of Thunder in 2012. In 2014, he brought The Goddess of Thunder, the first of an eight-issue storyline focused on “new Thor,” a mysterious woman who turns out to be none other than Jane Foster. The storyline follows the original Thor at a point when he’s no longer worthy enough to wield Mjolnir, his trademark magical hammer. This leaves Asgardia vulnerable, until a new Thor proves herself worthy of taking up the hammer. She becomes the Goddess of Thunder, and fights Frost Giants attacking Earth. It leads to a Thor vs. Thor situation, while everyone tries to figure out who the new Thor is.First official LGBTQ heroTessa Thompson as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. Marvel Tessa Thompson made her own big announcement among the many at Marvel’s Comic-Con panel. When asked on stage what her character Valkyrie’s first decision would be as King of New Asgard, Thompson answered, “First of all, as New King, she needs to find her Queen. That would be her first order of business. She has some ideas.”The MCU has hinted at LGBTQ characters before. Well, one LGBTQ character in Avengers: Endgame. After the Snap, Captain America holds a counselling session for those affected. A character credited as “grieving man,” played by co-director Joe Russo, brings up his date with another man.Thompson had already confirmed that Valkyrie, like in the comics, is bisexual. Natalie Portman wields Mjolnir at San Diego Comic-Con, 2019. Getty Images Thor movies are quickly becoming some of the most exciting titles in the MCU. The Hawaiian shirt-wearing Taika Waititi directed Thor: Ragnarok, arguably one of the funniest (and best) Marvel films. He’s back for Thor: Love and Thunder, the fourth in the series, and he’s brought a huge amount of news. The latest came out of D23, Disney’s big biennial fan expo, which brought Comic-Con level announcements. A new poster teased Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Kit Harrington joined The Eternals, a Black Widow trailer slid in, Tom Holland kind of addressed the Spider-Man controversy and we got a first look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil. That was very cool.Waititi, meanwhile, clarified a few details about Thor 4, including Natalie Portman’s role as another Thor.Let’s unpack everything we know about Thor: Love and Thunder below. There will be two ThorsWe learned a few details at Comic-Con this year about the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. But now we know her female version of Thor won’t be exclusively taking over the Thor mantle. She’ll be a Thor alongside Hemsworth’s original Thor, and her name will be Mighty Thor.”[She’s] a Thor. There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor [played by Hemsworth],” Waititi told Entertainment Tonight at D23. “She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor. It comes from that comic run. I couldn’t be more happy and excited.”Taika Waititi returnsTaika Waititi presents Portman Mjolnir at San Diego Comic-Con. Getty Images Waititi and Chris Hemsworth had been discussing where Thor could go ever since they reinvented the hero into somewhat of an outright comedy character in Thor: Ragnarok. Days before Marvel’s Comic-Con panel, it came out that Thor 4 would be happening with Waititi returning to both direct and write. The film would be playfully titled Thor: Love and Thunder, suggesting more psychedelic costumes, music and comedy are on the way.Thank the Norse gods Waititi did come back. Hemsworth’s contract ran out after Avengers: Endgame, but if the right script came along, he would be sold to play the Norse god for a ninth time. Waititi brought that script.Natalie Portman is female ThorNatalie Portman is going to play female Thor in Thor 4. Her response to the Comic-Con announcement is pretty darn good.”Remember this as the before picture for when I get jacked,” she wrote on Instagram with a picture of her on stage with Mjolnir, Thor’s enchanted hammer. 62 Photos Marvel Target Disney Thor

In this file photo Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte gestures as he delivers a speech during the 121st founding anniversary of the Philippine Army (PA) at Taguig city, Metro Manila, Philippines March 20, 2018. Photo : ReutersPhilippine president Rodrigo Duterte said on Thursday “genocide” was taking place in Myanmar and he was willing to accept Rohingya Muslim refugees fleeing from it, though Europe should help too.The United Nations and rights groups say some 700,000 people, most of them Rohingya, have fled from Myanmar into Bangladesh since August last year when Rohingya militant attacks on the security forces sparked a military crackdown. The United Nations and several Western countries have said the Myanmar action constitutes ethnic cleansing but Myanmar rejects that. It says its security forces have been conducting legitimate operations against “terrorists”.Duterte, in a wide-ranging speech to farmers and agriculture officials at the presidential palace, touched on various issues including his recent decision to withdraw from the International Criminal Court over its decision to open a preliminary investigation into his bloody war on drugs.Drawing the ire of officials in Myanmar, Duterte then expressed sympathy for the Rohingya and offered to help.”I really pity the people there,” Duterte said. “I’m willing to accept refugees. Rohingyas, yes. I will help but we should split them with Europe.”He also mentioned the inability of the international community to resolve problems in Myanmar.”They can’t even solve the Rohingya. That’s what genocide is, if I may say so,” Duterte said.Myanmar has rejected any suggestion genocide is taking place and its government spokesman, Zaw Htay, said Duterte’s comments did not reflect the real situation.”He doesn’t know anything about Myanmar,” Zaw Htay told Reuters. “The usual behaviour of that person is to speak without restraint. That’s why he said that.”Duterte’s comments were broadcast live on television and later included in a transcript of his speech, issued by his office.Such a denunciation by a Southeast Asian leader of a neighbour is rare. Both the Philippines and Myanmar are members of the Association of South East Asian Nations which has long upheld a convention of withholding criticism of fellow members.Duterte did not refer by name to Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been heavily criticised abroad for failing to stand up for the largely stateless Rohingya, only saying: “That woman, she is my friend.”
