Bat Tricks GirlSoftball, as we all know, is a game of statistics. Here’s an impressive number for you. The below Vine, posted one day ago, has nearly 8 million loops. Why? Because it features an incredible softball bat trick. The girl’s name is Marisa Arriaga, and she hails from Cedar Hill, Texas. She posted the original video back in June, but it’s gone viral the past 24 hours. In the clip, she lifts a bat off of the ground with her foot, bounces it behind her back, kicks the ball off of the tee, juggles it, and then crushes it into the woods. It’s awesome.Bat tricks? pic.twitter.com/M2JqHXR08l— marisa (@marisa_arriaga) June 24, 2015Yeah, I can’t do that. Impressive, to say the least.
Former Florida State running back Karlos Williams is upset – and a little misinformed. Saturday afternoon, Williams, who is clearly watching his alma mater take on Syracuse, tweeted out his displeasure with head coach Jimbo Fisher for starting freshman Jacques Patrick over junior Mario Pender at running back in place of injured star Dalvin Cook. The only problem? Pender is out for the contest, still recovering from a collapsed lung he suffered back in September. Williams later realized his mistake.Pender ain’t dressed. Wtf— Karlos Williams Sr (@Karlos_29_SR) October 31, 2015 Pender did return to practice this week, for what it’s worth. But he’s been listed as out since Thursday.Fisher also said that Terrance Smith, Mario Pender, Marcus Lewis, Derrick Kelly will be out for Syracuse. Marcus Rashford capped off a superb display for England by scoring the first goal of the game in their 2-0 win over Costa Rica which he felt was helped by a more carefree approachThe Manchester United forward was the star of the first-half at Elland Road on Thursday and scored a stunning 25-yard strike as England secured a comfortable 2-0 win in their final warm-up game heading into the World Cup.Rashford’s Man of the Match performance for England promoted further debate into his role at United, where the 20-year-old has often found himself more restricted under Jose Mourinho. The player himself felt that his carefree approach was what ultimately inspired his performance.“You work on them in training so, when one comes off in a game, it’s the reward you get,” he told ITV.“I’m happy with the game and the result. I feel like we’re in good physical form.Crouch: Liverpool could beat Man United to Jadon Sancho Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Peter Crouch wouldn’t be surprised to see Jadon Sancho end up at Liverpool one day instead of his long-term pursuers Manchester United.“I just tried to play free and enjoy myself. It’s good practice for what we need in the tournament.”Rashford is confident in the progress that the team have made in their training sessions together and has not ruled out the possibility of a surprise World Cup victory this summer.“It means a lot to be involved but going and hopefully playing a major part is my main aim,” he added.“The games are just to showcase ourselves to the fans how far we’ve come. We know in training how far we’ve come.“Anything is possible. We have to go with the highest expectations.”Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck headed in the second goal.

See All Now playing: Watch this: 0 Best Buy Apple has said Apple Arcade will come with games from Annapurna Interactive, Bossa Studios, Cartoon Network, Finji, Giant Squid, Klei Entertainment, Konami, Lego, Mistwalker, Sega, Snowman and Ustwo. That’s an interesting and diverse list of studios and, at this point, we don’t know precisely what all of those teams are working on. The game streaming competition is heating up. Google is working on Google Stadia, Microsoft has also demoed Project xCloud, which features similar streaming technology. But whereas Google and Microsoft will no doubt battle it out on the AAA landscape with established franchises like Forza Horizon and Assassin’s Creed, its reasonable to expect Apple Arcade to be a little smaller in scope, at least in terms of the games themselves — but $500 million is not to be scoffed at. Back then Apple promised that 100 exclusive games would be playable out of the gate, games that wouldn’t be available on other subscription services or even other mobile devices. But it looks like that promise may cost them. Apple may end up spending over $500 million on the service, the Financial Times reports. Sources informed the Financial Times that many of the games in the works have budgets in the millions.Video game budgets are typically huge. It’s not completely unusual for a big budget console or PC video game to cost over $200 million. That being said, the type of video games you’d expect to appear on Apple Arcade would most likely cost less. The indie-style video games you’d expect to see on Apple Arcade are usually made by much smaller development teams. CNET may get a commission from retail offers. By George Kevin Jordan, AFRO Staff WriterThe walk to FedEx Field is a long one- no matter which way you came. The trek was made more difficult by the sun that beamed down with a vengeance and wind that blew with a will. Still, that did not stop the mass of people making their way to the Broccoli City Festival on Sunday. And once they got there, it was like Mecca. In the end more than 30,000 people attended the star-studded extravaganza, filled with performances, local vendors and food, food and food.Childish Gambino entered in the center of the crowd on a platform that rose far above the audience at the 2019 Broccoli City Festival at FedEx Field in Landover, MD on April 27. (Photo by Micha Green)Broccoli City is a social enterprise co-founded by Darryl Perkins and Brandon McEachern. BC has a mission to “build thriving urban communities that sustain future generations by mobilizing and educating millennials through social impact campaigns and major events.” In 2017 BC expanded programming to a year-round schedule. There was absolutely something for everyone during Broccoli City Weekend, which spanned from Thursday until Sunday. During the week over 500 people attended a plethora of panels and events during Broccolicon, a gathering meant to inspire people to find solutions to challenges in urban communities. The festival itself was star power on 100, with Childish Gambino and Lil Wayne as headliners with 6lack, Lil Baby, Ella Mai, Teyana Taylor and City Girls and a host of other acts, who all to the stage all Saturday.“I’m here to have fun to see Childish Gambino, Teyana Taylor, Wizkid,” Danielle Wallace, a D.M.V. resident, said Sunday. “This is like my second time. Honestly it was much more intimate last year because it was in D.C. But it’s okay to upscale.”Upscale indeed. The crowd swelled over the afternoon with thousands of people pouring into the venue up until late in the evening. But the festival was not just a chance for D.M.V. residents to turn up. It allowed many small businesses and organizations and opportunity to connect with the people.“One of our biggest things is to bring the rural to the urban,” said Xavier Brown of the Black Dirt Farm Collective. “The rural is where our grandparents came from, and the urban space is where the people are, the money and where the young people are. So we are trying to bridge that gap.”Brown and his colleagues were at the festival to introduce people to the benefits of farmers and reconnecting with the land. The Black Dirty Farm Collective hosts Black farming gatherings with the ultimate goal, “to get land and to have safe spaces for Black people, growing our agricultural knowledge.”Instead of playing video games or seeing the “Avengers” movie this weekend, Collin, Ryan and Austin Gill set up their tent and got to work. The brothers are the owners of Freres Branchiaux Candle Co., handmade candles and fragrances that are organic and non-toxic.“Me and my brothers want games, and our mom said no,” the eldest, Collin said. “She said get a job and start a business.” The boys asked their mom what was her favorite thing to buy and she told them candles, and their business was born. The boys said it only takes five to ten minutes to make the candles, and they have a host of other items for sale as well.Collin said they decided to sell their wares at the Broccoli City Festival because, “everybody said it was a big event plus, we heard it on the radio.”The Broccoli City Weekend may have culminated with the concert, but the organization has many activations and initiatives throughout the year. Failing to sleep less than six hours may nearly double the risk of death in people with metabolic syndrome – a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity, researchers have warned. A study found that people with metabolic syndrome who slept for more than six hours were about 1.49 times more likely to die of stroke. Conversely, those who slept less than six hours were about 2.1 times more likely to die of heart disease or stroke. For those who got more sleep, the risk of death was more modest, the researchers said. The short sleepers with metabolic syndrome were also 1.99 times more likely to die from any cause compared to those without metabolic syndrome. “If you have several heart disease risk factors, taking care of your sleep and consulting with a clinician if you have insufficient sleep is important if you want to lower your risk of death from heart disease or stroke,” said lead author Julio Fernandez-Mendoza, Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. For the study, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, the team selected 1,344 adults (average age 49 years, 42 per cent male) who agreed to spend one night in a sleep laboratory. The results showed that 39.2 per cent of the participants had at least three of the risk factors — body mass index (BMI) higher than 30 and elevated total cholesterol, blood pressure, fasting blood sugar and triglyceride levels. During an average follow-up of 16.6 years, 22 per cent of the participants died. “Future clinical trials are needed to determine whether lengthening sleep, in combination with lowering blood pressure and glucose, improves the prognosis of people with the metabolic syndrome,” Fernandez-Mendoza said.

Jørgen Madsen LindemannModern Times Group (MTG) said that its Nordic pay TV operations and acquisitions are driving revenue and earnings growth, despite “soft advertising markets and ongoing investments.”Announcing its quarterly earnings, MTG said that in Q2 it delivered the highest quarterly sales in the group’s history and also recorded higher operating profits than last year. The firm said that it benefitted from a combination of on- and off-line advertising, subscription and content production businesses, allowing it to successfully monetise “rising video consumption levels.” With its Viaplay service it is also capitalising on the shift from linear to on-demand viewing.“Both Viaplay in the Nordics and our emerging market wholesale channel business performed well in the quarter, and our results were boosted by the content production business,” said MTG president and CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindeman.“TV advertising market development remains mixed but we grew our online advertising revenues in all markets. We continue to adjust our cost bases to the market development, and to maximise the earnings potential in our traditional businesses so that we can prioritise investments in future growth.Among the significant events detailed for the quarter was MTG’s Nordic content deal with Sony Pictures Television, the launch of its TV1000 Russian Kino movie channel in Isreal and its acquisition of youth media brand Trace.Net sales were up 13% at constant FX and up 3% on an organic basis to SEK4.1 billion (€444 million). EBIT before associated company income and non-recurring items were SEK472 million, up from SEK465 million last year. However, net income was downto SEK307 million, compared to SEK376 million in the same quarter last year.Looking forward, Lindemann said: “Advertising spending trends across our 11 free-TV markets are mixed but we will continue to adjust our investments accordingly and to grow our online shares.” He added that MTG is currently analysing Russia’s proposed ban on advertising on pay-TV channels from 2015.
